Bayer Middle East FZE (BME) is a wholly owned
subsidiary of Bayer AG in the Jebel Ali Free Zone of Dubai, U.A.E. The foundation of a fully
fledged legal entity representing Bayer in the Arabian Countries is based on a decision of the
Bayer board of management and was also strongly supported by the subgroups.
Initial purpose of Bayer Middle East (BME) is to build up a regional competence and know how centre that increases Bayer's regional visibility and to close identified gaps in governance and compliance. Therefore various Representation and Scientific Offices as well as Branches of Bayer AG and other Bayer principals in the Middle East will be attach the to the new company re-aligning the current scattered legal set up. BME is subdivided in 5 sub regions and will establish own branch offices accordingly in Cairo, Amman, Cyprus, Jeddah and Dubai.
For the time being the various Bayer activities in the Middle East region represent approx. EUR 350 million in sales- mainly in HealthCare and MaterialScience businesses, generated by 500+ employees in 14 countries. All Bayer subgroups consider the Middle East marketplace as very attractive and recognise it as one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Bayer Middle East will provide the platform to increase Bayer's field forces and providing the necessary, customized and cost optimized services to support further growth.
