Bayer Colombia Ranks First in Reputation Ranking
Bogotá, September 2010. High honors for Bayer in Colombia:
The company finished first in the chemicals and pharmaceuticals industries in this year’s corporate
reputation ranking study conducted by the Spain-based MERCO consultancy. This was the third
consecutive year in which Bayer finished atop the rankings. In addition, it climbed 15 spots in the
overall ranking to reach in 31st place among the top 100.
Study Conducted by MERCO Consultancy Matthias Haug, Senior Bayer Representative for Andean Countries, praised the
work done to achieve the company’s highest ever ranking: “This has been made possible by the
constant work done with the support of all employees in the organization and thanks to a strategic
communication plan which has included the development of local Sustainability Report, the launch of
the new corporate image film “Elements of fascination,” programs for Social and Environmental
Responsibility, and closer work with authorities and media in Colombia. Bayer’s employees are proud
of having contributed to this success.”
In 2010, Bayer ranked as the company number 1 in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries
above Pfizer, Tecnoquímicas, Roche, Dow, and Dexton World Group. The results are based on a
rigorous study which includes a financial analysis, a survey of 6,000 executives, as well as of
consumers, NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations), consumer associations, trade unions and opinion
leaders. Besides Bayer, in the top 100 the only other German company included is Siemens. A total
of 844 companies were considered for inclusion in the top 100.
