Bayer Recognized for Global Diversity
Pittsburgh. Bayer Corporation has been named one of
DiversityInc’s Top 10 Companies for Global Diversity, a select list of companies with strong
commitments to creating a diverse and inclusive global culture. This is the first time Bayer has
been included on the list. The DiversityInc evaluators commended Bayer for its diversity philosophy
and initiatives, including the company's valuation of its people and their different perspectives
and cultures by seeing each partner as a fellow human being and treating one another fairly.
“We are proud to be among the top companies selected by DiversityInc. As a global enterprise, Bayer
needs to understand a complex combination of domestic and foreign customers, markets and customs.
We need to apply dynamic teamwork to big challenges and the more perspectives, the better,” said
Greg Babe, President and CEO of Bayer Corporation and Bayer MaterialScience LLC. “Bayer is proving
that diversity allows us to improve ourselves and those around us. It increases our productivity,
our ability to be innovative and our human potential.”
The jury particularly praised Bayer for this philosophy and its related campaigns. In
evaluating the company, the jury noted Bayer's ongoing education of employees in terms of cultural
diversity. According to the jury, "Bayer considers it important for staff to get to know other
cultures, to discover and understand them." The company's Human Rights Diversity Declaration
directly confronts these values.
Companies listed with Bayer among the Top 10 are Accenture, Cisco Systems, Colgate-Palmolive,
Deloitte & Touche, IBM Corporation, Novartis Pharmaceuticals, PepsiCo, PricewaterhouseCoopers
and Procter & Gamble. DiversityInc, launched in 1997, publishes a monthly business magazine and
daily news Web site focusing on diversity in the workplace.
