Young Talents in Brazil Honored
Dr. Horstfried Läpple, Bayer Senior Representative in Brazil, expressed his satisfaction over the
high level of participation in the contest: “It is satisfying to know that the award is a
motivation to pharmacy professionals and my message to them is ‘Continue your efforts to improve
the health of Brazilians.’” Four recipients were honored this year, two each in the categories
students and young professionals. The winners all received BRL$ 4,000 (ca. EUR 1,500), and will
have the opportunity to present their projects at the Congress of the State of Sao Paulo of the
Regional Council of Pharmacy.
“The topic of this year’s competition was designed to highlight an issue that is increasingly
attracting attention in Brazil, self-medication and the indiscriminate use of drugs,” explains Dr.
Sandra Abrahão, Head of the Scientific Medical area of Bayer Schering Pharma in Brazil. The winners
were selected by a commitee that included members from the Regional Council of Pharmacy of the
State of Sao Paulo, university professors, and representatives of public health authorities as well
