Arasch Wafaisade, Medical student, scholarship from the Bayer Foundations for an internship at the Department of Surgery at New York Downtown Hospital, United States
Freedom
"The scholarship gives me a great deal of freedom. It also provides me with the extra investment that I need for the different stages of my clinical studies. My personal highlights certainly include my time in the Department of Surgery at New York Downtown Hospital. In my eight weeks here I have been able to broaden my specialist knowledge and gain an insight into the U.S. health care system. The positive experience with the country and its people has reinforced my decision to go abroad for a period after my exams."

Bayer Foundation: 150,000 euros for scholarships abroad
Sponsorship is available both to students from Germany who are planning to study abroad and to foreign students who want to spend time studying in Germany.

For the Bayer Science & Education Foundation, this marks the start of the second round of the Bayer Fellowship program, which sets out to promote the international exchange of science. When the Foundation was established in 2007, the scholarship programs of various individual Bayer foundations were merged. The new scholarship program is aimed at students with a strong will to achieve, who have above-average grades and level of social commitment, and are planning a special study project of maximum one year duration abroad and need financial support for this. The scholarships are awarded by an independent council. In the first sponsorship round in 2007, 21 students participated in the Bayer scholarship program.

The closing date for applications is August 31, 2008. You can find further information and the link to the application form here.
