Cooperation with Guanghua School of Management at Peking University - Program for the Next Generation of Leaders Launched
Beijing. Support for the next generation of leaders: Bayer and the Guanghua Management School at
Peking University (PKU) have signed a 2-year cooperation memorandum. Under the agreement, Bayer
will offer two students full scholarships in addition to internships at Bayer Coatings. Bayer and
PKU will also put in place a series of reciprocal lectures by senior managers and lecturers. This
is the first ever such scholarship program between a Chinese university and an international
company.
In an address at the event announcing the cooperation, Daniel Meyer, President of Coatings in Asia
Pacific for Bayer MaterialScience, explained the significance of the cooperation. “Due to a rapid
expansion of our business, we need to identify and cultivate those talented future leaders who
share Bayer values and possess a good knowledge of Bayer business operations.” Students will spend
their first two semesters in residence at the Guanghua Management School, before going to Europe to
finish their studies at the renowned French management school ESSEC. Upon graduation, they will be
awarded a dual Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Peking University and ESSEC.
Bayer's commitment to education already includes endowed university chairs in the fields of
sustainable development, intellectual property, and health policy and education. Bayer and the
Guanghua Management School aim to establish a successful model of cultivating high level managerial
talents through their collaboration.
