Communications trainee Katharina Kleinitz visits the Bayer career portal.

Bayer Career Portal is Tops

Hamburg, July 2010. Bayer is one of the companies making the most professional use of its websites to inform would-be applicants. This was the conclusion of a ranking of recruiting sites of publicly traded companies in Germany, whose results were published in the “ Harvard Business Manager” magazine. Bayer finished in second place behind E.ON, one of the world’s largest investor-owned power and gas companies. Rounding up the top five were BMW, Deutsche Post, and ThyssenKrupp.

Study on Online Communication
“We are pleased with our excellent results in the study” said Dr. Dirk Pfenning from the Center of Expertise People Development of the Bayer holding company. “The internet is now the most important means of reaching potential applicants. Young graduates in particular expect career portals to be technologically up-to-date and use the latest Web 2.0 tools.” The consultancy NetFederation, which specializes in online communications, has been conducting the study of recruitment sites for the past seven years. It evaluated all companies listed on the Dax, Mdax and TechDax. Criteria ranked included presentation of the company, comprehensiveness of the posted job descriptions, user friendliness, and social media content.
According to the article, Bayer ranked best in the areas of user friendliness, interesting topics, and linked content. In addition, Bayer’s career portal provides information adapted to different target groups, such as students, recent graduates, and senior professionals.
