Bayer’s Czech Subsidiary Wins CSR Award
Prague, July 2010. Bayer has garnered major praise in the
Czech Republic: The company has been honored with the "Corporate Social Responsibility Award 2010."
Bayer’s Czech subsidiary took third-place honors in the category "medium-sized companies."
Social Responsibility Initiatives
Bayer won over the high-profile panel of judges with its projects and initiatives for social
responsibility, finishing ahead of 60 competitors. Among Bayer’s new CSR activities, the judges
made special mention of the “Making Science Make Sense” initiative, the “Ecology in Focus”
photography competition, and a nature path built by the company in Prague’s largest city park.
“We are very pleased about this accolade. It serves as recognition of our efforts on behalf
of society and the environment,” said Daniela Cervenclova, Bayer Corporate Communications
Coordinator in the Czech Republic, who accepted the award.
Through the educational initiative “Making Science Make Sense,” Bayer employees volunteer
their time to visit schools. Their aim is to help younger generations discover the fascination of
science through exciting experiments. Originally established in 1992 in the United States, the
initiative now involves Bayer employees in several countries.
In the “Ecology in Focus” photography competition, amateur and professional photographers
from around the Czech Republic can submit their best snapshots once a year. In 2009 the competition
was held under the theme “biodiversity.”
The renowned “Corporate Social Responsibility Award” is presented each year by M.C. Triton,
the leading Czech corporate consulting company, in conjunction with the international public
relations agency Fleishmann-Hillard. The jury is comprised of PR experts, corporate consultants and
prominent representatives of politics and society. This year’s winners were honored at a ceremony
in the historic center of Prague.
