Frankfurt, July 2010. Bayer has a good image in Germany
according to a survey conducted by TNS Emnid for the business and management consultancy
PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC). Members of the public ranked the Bayer Group the eighth most popular
German company.
Company ranking
This is the first time Bayer has been ranked in the top ten in this representative survey. The top
ranks are dominated by automobile manufacturers: Daimler was voted the most popular company in
2010, regaining the number one position which it lost to Volkswagen last year. Volkswagen, BMW and
Audi rank third, fourth and fifth respectively, with Siemens taking second place as the top-ranked
company outside the automotive sector.
No longer among the top ten according to PwC are Opel (ranked sixth in 2009) and Telekom
(ranked tenth last year). Bayer and Lufthansa (seventh) are the newcomers among the top ten.
The most important evaluation criterion according to those who took part in the survey is the
quality of the companies’ products and services. 98 percent of those surveyed said that their
preferred company must provide a top-class service. 95 percent see good management as a positive
factor, while for 92 percent the company’s attractiveness as an employer is important. Other
significant criteria to those who took part in the survey were sustainability (87 percent) and job
security (84 percent).
