World Business Dialogue
Cologne, March 2012. "Consumption" was the key theme of
the 15th World Business Dialogue taking place at Cologne University. 300 representatives from
politics and business met with 300 students from all around the world to talk about the subject of
"Checkpoint Consumption – Needs, Duties and the Search of Balance." Dr. Richard Pott, member of the
Bayer Board of Management responsible for Human Resources, who has long been closely connected with
the event as a member of the presidium, welcomed the participants of the largest student-run
business convention.

Commenting on Bayer’s commitment to this high-caliber event, Pott said: "Bayer supports the aims of
the World Business Dialogue, which brings together different generations and nationalities to
consider how to shape a better future." He invited those taking part to take advantage of the
diversity that the congress was offering. "Learn from each other. Be open to other people's ideas
and to aspects you might previously not have encountered."
On the day before the main event, Bayer presented itself to 1,000 selected students at the
exclusive recruitment fair and advised visitors to its stand about career prospects in the Group.
"This was a unique opportunity for students to find out more about job opportunities at Bayer in a
one-to-one talk with representatives of the University & Talent Relations Department and
various specialist departments," explained Bernd Manfred Schmitz, who heads this department.
In the afternoon, the department offered a workshop on the topic of online reputation. Here,
the participants could learn how to draw up and link their online profiles so that they present
themselves on the web correctly and that selected contents and profiles are easy to find.
