Bayer Sponsorship Helps New Zealand Beat the World

International Chemistry Olympiad in South Korea
Gyeongsan.  The New Zealand Chemistry Olympiad team has achieved its best ever results at the 38th International Chemistry Olympiad, held 2006 in South Korea. Bayer New Zealand sponsored one of the team members, Richard Stebbing from Northcote College in Auckland. Students from 68 countries competed at the yearly event, which involves two five-hour exams – one practical and one theoretical.

Bayer MaterialScience business development manager for Australia and New Zealand Justin Gleeson says "I strongly believe that youth is our future. We must get them more involved in the sciences and what better way to do it than using the GIVE program to sponsor a student to the international Chemistry Olympiad. I'm delighted that Bayer New Zealand was able to support Richard and to see him do so well against larger countries." The New Zealand team won three silver and one gold medal, their best showing in fifteen years.

Launched in 2005, Bayer New Zealand's GIVE program supports its employees in the charity and community activities that they are passionate about.
